OUR JOURNEY…
Humble Beginnings.
Cal Valley Construction began in 1988 as Shelley and John Avila’s two-person grading outfit, leveling farmland and building dairy projects across the Central Valley. As California’s needs changed, so did we—adding public-works crews in the early 2000’s and, by 2009, taking on pavement restoration and civil support for large utility contractors.
Our utility résumé deepened during the Pipeline Safety Enhancement Plan (PSEP) wave, where we delivered four solid years of round-the-clock restoration work. When that program wound down, we pivoted back to cities, counties, and state agencies—all while growing our gear, our people, and our safety program.
Today we are still family-owned, Fresno-based, and focused on civil construction that keeps power, gas, telecom, water, and sewer networks online—from remote access roads to urban trench restoration. Thousands of projects later, our promise hasn’t budged:
Build it right, build it safe.
Deliver on time and on budget.
Treat every client like a long-term partner.
That mindset has carried us from farm fields to critical infrastructure, and it guides every job we take on next.
